NAVI MUMBAI: An incident of ragging at D Y Patil University in Nerul led to some tension among students on the campus on Thursday evening. The

father of the girl who was ragged told TOI that he is determined to take this forward with the authorities concerned and has already complained to the principal of Ramarao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT), Udaya Shende. RAIT is situated on the D Y Patil University premises.

The father, who is a resident of Mulund, said, "My daughter, who is a first year engineering student at RAIT, had got into an altercation with some of her seniors on Wednesday evening. They had asked her to dress in a particular way to college, when she told her seniors, 'Who are you to tell me how to dress?'. Following this, they started taunting her. She reported this to me and I immediately met the college principal."

Shende has asked for an internal inquiry into the matter. A complaint will also be lodged with the university's anti-ragging committee soon. "There is a Maharashtra government resolution, which bans ragging at any college campus in the state. Despite this, my daughter was ragged," the father added.

The claim is idiotic in nature...'dress in a particular way' doesn't say anything...this is not ragging...
