Nine Students Suspended for Ragging

Agartala, Nov 10 (IANS) Nine students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here have been suspended for allegedly ragging juniors, an official said Monday. Six students have been admitted to a hospital following the ragging incident.
“Based on the preliminary report, we have suspended nine students of second and third year for physically assaulting junior students,” director in-charge of the NIT Saroj Das said.
He said appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty after the final report is received.
Tripura Higher Education Minister Anil Sarkar said: “We have asked the NIT authorities to submit a report to the state government. We shall not tolerate any kind of ragging in educational institutions in the state.”
