DU colleges begin session amidst ragging fear

COLLEGE BEGAN today for the newly joined students as the academic session of the Delhi University began in right earnest at the Delhi University colleges.

Amidst worries of ragging, the new students were excited as they entered college life making a smooth transition from being school kids to being college youth. Most of the youngsters were dot on time for the their first day in college, which will remain etched in their memories for long time to come.

To ensure that the ragging does not turn ugly on the campus, the Delhi University authorities have take several steps to check the menace.
Squads comprising senior teachers have been formed and stationed throughout the campus.

In addition, the colleges have also installed CCTV cameras to keep a watch on the activities on the college precinct to ensure no untoward happenings takes place. To sensitise the students, posters on ragging have also been put at several places on the campus.

The year’s beginning has though been marred by the controversy at the prestigious quota controversy at the St Stephen College. College teachers are opposed to the plan of college administration of introducing quota in faculty for Christians.

There has been opposition to the proposal of pro-tem administrator of having quota for Christian teachers.
