Four Students Injured in Ragging

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a suspected case of ragging, four students of
the Immanuel College at Vazhichal in the district were injured after
they were beaten up by senior students on Wednesday. Tension prevailed in the college on Thursday following the incident. Four BSc final-year students were suspended in this connection. BCom first-year students Mohammed Yasin, Daheer, Anish and Tijo had
suffered injuries in the ragging. They were admitted to the Community Health Centre at Anappara, near Vellarada. The Ariyancode Police registered cases against Nikhil, Abilash,
Niteesh and Aju, all final-year BSc electronics students.
They were suspended from the college. Police said that all the accused
were absconding.

The victims alleged that they were roughed up by the seniors at the college on Wednesday afternoon after they refused to concede to the inhumane and immoral demands of the seniors as part of ragging. They alleged that they were even forced to stand nude in front of the
senior students.
