Amritsar , Aug 23 A second-year engineering student of a private college near Attari border here today allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room but police ruled out ragging as motive behind the act as claimed by his parents.
Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Una district of Himachal Pardesh, joined the Baba Kumar Singh Engineering College here only five days ago. He was earlier studying in an engineering college in Moga district.
The parents of the deceased alleged that their son took the extreme step after he was ragged at the hostel but police and college authorities ruled out such a possibility.
