Allahabad University student alleges ragging

Allahabad : A student of Allahabad University has complained that he was forced to take off his trousers, smoke and carry his slippers on his head by his seniors inside the campus, an official said Tuesday. He said he was also beaten during the ragging.

"A student of B.A. first year, has accused some senior inmates of Kali Prasad Hostel of ragging him on the pretext of being introduced to him," university's chief proctor Jata Shankar told IANS.

"The student has registered a written compliant with the university authorities. We have initiated an inquiry into the matter. If senior students are found guilty, stern action would be taken against them," Shankar added.

According to the victim, he was ragged Sunday by a group of senior inmates of the hostel that is located right across the main building of the university.

The student has alleged that his seniors forced him to smoke and perform "objectionable acts" and the ragging continued for nearly an hour.
