18 suspended for ragging in Jaipur, 2 held

JAIPUR: The Sawai Maan Singh Medical College and Hospital here suspended 18 second year MBBS students for ragging their juniors, Principal Ashok Pangariya said.

Nearly 25 first year students were forcibly boarded on a bus and taken to Barkat Nagar by their seniors, Pangariya said and added that as soon as the matter came to the notice of the college administration, police and district administration were informed.

"A police team then raided the PG Hostels at Barkat Nagar and rescued the first year students, before they were ragged. 18 second year students were immediately suspended for three months on charges of ragging," said Ashok Pangariya.

Chief Warden of college hostel Dr H Pagariya said, "FIR has been lodged against two second year students, who have also been detained for questioning by the police."

Station House Officer, Moti Dhumri Narayan Tiwari, while confirming the arrest said, "Two second year students have been arrested and FIR lodged against them under section 341 of IPC. The students arrested are Deependra Yadav and Kamlesh Beniwal."
