Coimbatore, Aug 13 (PTI) Four students of a private college here were arrested today on charges of ragging and assaulting a first year computer science student.
Basad, hailing from Vatakara of Kerala, lodged a complaint with the principal on August 9 that four students -- two from Udhagamandalam (Ooty) and two from Kerala -- had warned him not to come to the college with a moustache.
Though the principal summoned the students, all doing their second year computer science and warned them that day, they took Basad to a hotel and threatened him with dire consequences. They also forced him to part with Rs 1,100 and allegedly assaulted him.
Basad was later admitted to a hospital in Palakkad, treated and discharged, police said.
A complaint was lodged in Peelamedu police station in the city yesterday, based on which all the four were arrested, police said.
