GANDHINAGAR: A first year student of Government Commerce College in Sector 20 was admitted to Civil Hospital here after he was beaten up
mercilessly by senior colleagues on Saturday. Four students have been booked for ragging after a complaint was lodged with Sector 21 police station.
The accused, one of them identified as Ajaysinh Darbar, allegedly injured the victim seriously by kicking him in his groins. The victim told police that the accused had objected to his presence in the college and thrashed him.
The college management has launched an independent inquiry into the matter to find out whether the accused were from other college. "If the accused turn out to be students from our college, they will be suspended," said an official of the college.
Meanwhile, police have registered the case and started probe. "The victim hails from Sector 5-C and is a native of Palitana. He is a bright student with excellent record in sports and extra circular activities," said a police official.
