Harassed student attempts suicide

Chandigarh, Dec 6, DHNS:

A second year student of a polytechnic college in Haryana attempted suicide by consuming poison after he was allegedly harassed by his seniors. Although Jagtar Singh, the victim, is said to be out of danger, the incident tends to expose the frail system to check ragging activities in the college.

Singh is a student of Guru Nanak Polytechnic College at Tohana in Haryana. His brother Jaswinder Singh has blamed the college management for shielding the accused students. He has also accused the college of ignoring complaints made by Singh in this regard.
