The city police on Friday arrested three final year students of a private college for assaulting two juniors over previous enmity. Police said the three students B. Asif, 22, S. Sujith, 22, and M. Abilash, 22, of CMS College of Science and Commerce frequently harassed and assaulted two of their juniors — J Arjun Krishna, 19, and T. Riyaz, 22, ever since the juniors filed a ragging complaint against them, a year ago.

The three students were placed under suspension by the college management for a week in the wake of the ragging complainant. The accused students had even missed their semester examination due to the suspension, which was revoked after a week. Since then, the three senior students had developed a grudge against Arjun and Riyaz. “They had assaulted the duo, once the college reopened this year,” said a cop.

The three were then summoned to the police station and were let off after a warning. However, the accused students again went to the room of Arjun and Riyaz at Ramakrishnapuram in Ganapathy and assaulted them on Thursday. Following a complaint, the city police arrested the three youth and remanded them to custody. The students are now lodged at the Bostral School at Pollachi.
