Case against five students for ragging

Coimbatore, July 18 (PTI) Cases were registered against five senior students of a private college here for allegedly ragging a first year student a week ago, police said today.

The cases were filed based on a complaint by the Principal of PSG College of Arts and Science, Sheela Ramachandran, that a first year BCom student was ragged by the five in the campus.

All the accused, third year students of Computer Science, BBM and Hotel Management, are absconding, they said.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 10. Based on the junior's complaint the following day, the Principal questioned the students concerned.

She lodged the complaint last evening and cases were registered under the Ragging Act, police said.
