Case against five girls for ragging

Last updated at 1:45am on 20 Jul 2009

The Three Town police registered a ragging case against five tribal girls staying in the Tribal Welfare Hostel in MVP Colony here on Sunday.

The Three Town circle inspector, Mr K. Ranga Raju, said two first-year degree students had lodged a complaint in the station against five final-year students alleging they had ragged them. “We registered a case following a complaint by a girl. We will take action after investigation,” he said.

The seniors asked them to tell the names of their mothers and when they told the names, they made fun of the names. One of the seniors asked why their mothers were not named Ramba, Urvasi or Menaka and instead had ordinary tribal names. The juniors were angry and replied that they too were from the same tribal area and their mothers too would be having similar names.
