Report by Orissa Diary correspondent; Cuttack: The Biju Patnaik Technical University (BPUT) on Wednesday suspended five students of Piloo Mody College of Architecture for alleged involvement in ragging case and withdrew recognition of the college for the next academic year.
As per the information , on 7th August a second year B.Arch student Soubhagya Mishra alleged ragging by seniors belonging to fourth year of the college.A joint committee constituted by BPUT initiated probe into the matter and submitted its report following which the premier technical university took a serious note of it and suspended the students for two years. Besides, it withdrew recognition to the college for the academic session 2011-12.The students have been identified as Gourav Das Mohapatra, Devaditya Das, Aurojit Moitra, Anwesika Sahu and Pabitra Sahu.
These students had attacked Soubhagya with blades inflicting serious injuries to his neck. Meanwhile, the students, college authorities and OPECA have opposed the stringent action on the students and the college.
