VARANASI: Sensation prevailed on the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus ( RGSC) of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Barkachha in Mirzapur district on Sunday, when a girl student of MCA programme (second year) was found lying unconscious in her room at Vindhyavasini Hostel.
The girl, identified as Aruna, was rushed to the district hospital, where her condition was stated to be out of danger.
"The condition of the girl is stable and reported to be out of danger", said chief medical officer Dr Daya Shankar while talking to TOI over phone. The girl is responding well to the treatment and has been kept under medical observation. The initial reports suggest it to be a case of hysteria, he added.
As per H C S Rathod, chief proctor, BHU, the proctorial board and anti-ragging squad are probing the matter. He also said that the officer-on-special-duty (OSD) and other senior officials are keeping a strict vigil on the situation.
