HALDIA: Three engineering students of Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) were suspended on Friday for ragging a junior, Subharthi Bhattacharya.
The victim's mother, Malati, claims he was beaten with belts and kicked for three hours in the HIT hostel.
Subharthi, a production engineering student, has been admitted to Bangur hospital with injuries all over his body. He lives in Jadavpur's Chittaranjan Colony.
"The institute set up an inquiry committee, which found that the three students named by Subharthi's mother had indeed ragged him," said registrar Anjan Misra.
