FOUR ENGINEERING STUDENTS ARRESTED FOR RAGGING

The police arrested four B.Tech second year students on charges of ragging and attacking their juniors at a shopping mall at Maddilapalem in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday night.

Inspector of III Town Police Station J Lakshmana Murthy said a group of six B.Tech second year students came to CMR Central shopping mall in the city last night and found their juniors of around ten persons shopping. Irate that their juniors also came to the same mall, senior students forcibly took cash from the juniors and fled the mall.

Acting on a complaint lodged by victims, the police arrested four second-year students on charges of ragging. A case has been registered against the students under Section 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997. The police produced the accused students at the Fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan court today, where the judge dismissed their bail petition.
