It's been a week since Rakesh Kumar, a class 12 student, was reported missing after a fight with junior classmates. The police are still clueless. Rakesh had joined Babu Hit Abhilashi Savhitkari Vidyamandir School in Mansa just four days before he was reported missing on the evening of May 5 when Rakesh had left home on his bike.

The police have been looking for him since but have not even been able to trace his bike. Rakesh's parents allege that their son was being ragged and has been kidnapped. "We brought Rakesh home after discussing the issue with the school principal.

Later in the afternoon Rakesh took out his bike, and has been missing since," Krishan Kumar, boy's father, said over the phone. School principal dismissed all allegations saying, "The parents' allegations of ragging are baseless. On May 5, the four juniors who had beaten Rakesh had later apologised to him and his parents in my office." "My child is a decent, quiet boy.

Four days ago, we had moved him from Government Senior Secondary School, Boha. My nephew Gaurav who is in class 11 in the same school had told us that students used to tease Rakesh but he would keep quiet," Krishan Kumar claims. The police believe that Rakesh left the house of his own free will. "We are investigating into the matter. After the fight Rakesh left his house on his bike. In preliminary investigation it seems the student had left home of his own free will. We have been looking everywhere for him including gurudwaras across the state," said, Sukhdev Singh Chahal, senior superintendent of police at Mansa.
