T’PURAM: An anti-ragging meet will be organised in front of the College of Engineering Trivandrum on February 21 by the Action Council as part of the agitational programmes on the issue of ragging of a Dalit student of the college allegedly by the SFI activists.

Action Council chairman and JSS leader K.K. Shaju MLA said here on Saturday that the agitational programmes will be intensified in the coming days by organising a people’s march to the college unless action was taken against the culprits.

Shaju said that Arjun, a second year Electronics and Communication student, was ragged by his seniors on January 16 night. He alleged that the college authorities and the PTA all came to the rescue of the culprits and the very word `ragging’ has been excluded from the FIR by the police.

The Action Council alleged that the college authorities were on the move to expel Arjun from the college. The Action Council comprises various organisations like KSU, AIDSO, ABVP, SIO and Youth Congress, Yuva Morcha, KPMS, BSP, Dalit Seva Samithi, Janakiya Prathirodha Samithi and JSS.

More organisations will be included in the Samithi, its leaders said.
